Bobbly Tote Shopper

Well, the last week seems to have flown by and I cannot believe that
Meg and Adam have now been married for one whole week !

We all had the most wonderful day and as soon as all the photo's come back
I will put together a whole post chock full of photo's
of all the little things that made the day so fab.

Life is beginning to get back to normal here and
after having had a week off work while annual maintenance was carried out
at the Nursery we are rapidly heading towards Tuesday
and the start of the new academic year.

I think this Bank Holiday weekend is mostly going to be spent getting
the house straight again after all our visitors and trying to get back in to a bit of a routine,
but before all that I couldn't resist putting together a quick post about my last pattern
and tutorial that went out on lovecrochet.com last weekend.

In amongst all the excitement of the wedding it went by completely unnoticed
but as this was such a fun make I really wanted to share it with you.

The full details are all available completely free over on the Blog
at lovecrochet.com and I'll make sure I include the full link
at the end of this post.

Anyway ...... here it it....

... my Bobbly Tote Shopper !

If you're anything like me you will probably have several bags around the house,
of all varying shapes and sizes,
but this one is certainly up there with my favourites.

I've always been reluctant to put hours of work into making a crochet bag
up until now as I worried that in no time at all the yarn would stretch
and the bag would loose its shape ....
so, after a bit of head scratching I came up with the idea
of  making a crochet bag with a hessian bag inside it,
that not only gives the bag a solid framework and extra strength
but also provides you with the handles !

The hessian bag is just one of the reusable bags that you can get
very cheaply at the supermarket and my one came from Sainsburys.
I chose this one because I particularly liked the round handles.

The crochet part of the bag is made up of a front and back panel and
a long strip that makes the two sides and the bottom of the bag.

I added a few little finishing pieces around the top edge

and ta-dah ..
... you have one very super stylish and unique bag !!

If you fancy giving it a try full details can be found here:

Meadow Picnic Blanket

Now I know I said I was going to take a couple of weeks away from blogging
to concentrate on all things wedding ....
but I just had to pop back quickly to share some photo's
from this weeks 'Crochet With Kate' over on the lovecrochet.com Blog with you.

I had soooo much fun designing and making my Meadow Picnic Blanket
and if you fancy having a go the pattern and tutorial is all
there waiting for you from today .. and, better still, it's all completely free !

The squares are made in HTR's and as its made in a Chunky yarn
it works up so quickly that you'll have it off the hook in no time at all.

There was something seriously therapeutic about sitting quietly
hooking a pile of green squares ...
they do say green is a calming colour,
so maybe that had something to do with it too !

The bobbly border added all the way around the edge
reminds a little of lots of lovely hedgerows,

and with a sprinkling of daisies added to the finished blanket

you have your own personal meadow ready and waiting for those sunny
afternoon picnics ....

and just in case the sun doesn't appear...
with a few strategically placed pillow and some toy farm animals ...

you have the best toy farm mat ever !!

And breathe .....

Calm has been restored !
It seems a week off work was exactly what was needed.
I have tidied, sorted, finished off some patterns and tutorials, ticked things off the
wedding To Do list and I have even managed to make the
smallest of dents in the ironing pile.

There can be nothing nicer than that feeling of being ever so slightly back in control and not
running around manically as I was when I wrote my last post !

The last thing that I wanted to get done this weekend was to start laying
out the Wedding Garland I am making to see how much more needed to be done,
and yay, I don't have to make 500 billion more roses after all !
Big result.
I am very nearly there with what I have made already and only a
 handful remain to be made.

So, I have packed up my gorgeous Just Pootling bag - a very, very lovely Birthday
present from Immi - and have everything ready to hand for a quick bit of rose production
should I have the odd five minutes here and there at work this week.

With just one more week of work to go before we are full steam ahead in to final wedding preparations I am going to love you and leave you for a couple of weeks and will be back to full Pootling at the beginning of September.

If you are off on your hols have a fantastic time and I look forward to lots of swapping of photo's very soon.
